Asheville’s second Beer Week and fourth Beer Festival are just around the corner. May 25th through June 1st celebrate all things beer,  with eight days of events that will include tastings, dinners, beer education, keynote speakers, and other beer-related fun. It will culminate with the Beer City Festival on June first from 1-6pm. There will be bands, food and fun, and of course beer.

Asheville is home to 12 local craft breweries, more than any other city per capita, located throughout downtown and scattered along the outskirts. Annual Garden Jubilee: Hendersonville 2013

Held every Memorial Day weekend it is THE Lawn and Garden show of Western North Carolina. This year will showcase over 150 businesses along Main Street, including local nurseries, lawn furniture and ornamentation vendors, and good eats.

Events include the annual Lowe’s Expo, featuring hands on clinics for kids and adults, as well as free lectures throughout both days on a variety growing topics. Southern Living Magazine’s landscape & garden specialist Bill Slack will be returning to the Lowe’s lawn and garden tent, located at the Visitors Information Center, for three talks: Saturday, May 25 -11:00am “Your Landscape’s finishing touch – container gardening”, and 1:00pm “Wow! What a beautiful backyard” and 3:00pm “Laid back landscaping!” And on Sunday, May 26 – 1:00pm “Wow! What a beautiful backyard” and 3:00pm “Laid back landscaping!

This years annual event will be held on May 25th and 26th, and will be open from 9am to 5pm both days. The Hospitality tent will be located at the Historic Downtown Courthouse.

The Bullington Center is just one of the many unique places that Hendersonville has to offer. This 12 acre parcel of land was previously owned by Bob Bullington, who was an avid gardener. He collected unusual plants and created spectacular gardens, that now have become a part of the Bullington Center. This facility now houses a a multipurpose room, a greenhouse and head house (used for hands-on workshops) and an amphitheater.
